Sturdi-Bilt Wedge Lock Pallet Rack

Only Friction Fit in the Industry...

Whereas the point-to-point type connectors utilized by most racks rely on bearing and shear strength, the Safety Wedge Connector utilizes the broad surface-to-surface clamping forces of the bar corner angle to give Sturdi-Bilt Racks rigidity and strength that approaches welded construction.

Horizontal support bars are forced to upright columns, both laterally and front-to-back, with a vice-like steel grip. You can’t get a rattle out of even an empty Sturdi-Bilt rack structure. More material is stored on Sturdi-Bilt racks than any other for good reasons.

THE ANGLE

There’s an important 10° wedging angle between the twin lobes and body of the Safety Wedge Connector. The corner angle of the support bar also has a 10° incline. When the connector is slipped in place, the matching angled surfaces meet and wedging action begins. The connection tightens just by pressing down on the beam. Result? Rigidity even while the rack structure is empty.

FRICTION FORCES HARNESSED

As a load is set down on bar,the Safety Wedge Connector forces the bar corner angle (formed at less than 90°) to straighten out against the two broad surfaces of the upright post. As full contact is made on front and side it exerts a spring action. The load is evenly transferred to the column, just as it should.

NO "SAFETY LOCK"

Safety Wedge construction negates any possible need for extraneous "safety locks and catches". The elongated ear prevents accidental dislodgment of the bar from the column. For test purposes, fork lift drivers have tried dislodging the bars of empty Sturdi-Bilt rack without success. Neither is the Safety Wedge Connector damage prone. It’s as foolproof as an adjustable connector can be made.

LOAD AND OFF-LOAD NO PROBLEM

Loading and off-loading creates both lateral and horizontal stresses on a rack structure. For racks with tiny bearing surfaced pins, fingers and wire type connectors, this back-and-forth stress action can cause connections to cut into one another and work loose. Not so with the Safety Wedge Connector. It forces the support bar ends to upright posts with a steel grip.
